Winter-Spring Transitional Outfits

Deciding what to wear during the winter-spring transition period can be tricky. On one hand, you're probably ready to ditch the layers of winter clothing, but on the other it's still not quite warm enough to break out your favorite spring clothes. I decided to try and tackle this dilemma and came up with five outfits that you can grab inspiration from so that you can find the happy medium between flowy spring clothes and structured winter layers.
Earrings: Dressbarn, Jacket: eBay, Shirt: Thrifted, Shorts: Forever21, Shoes: Shoe Carnival

My first outfit definitly still has structure like a lot of winter outfits, but by switching out my usual skirt I was able to subdue my hankering for wearing shorts again and edge up this glam-rock outfit. It looks like a lot of layers, but with a light jacket and a pair of opaque tights, this look was perfect for a breezy march day.

Sweatshirt: Kohls, Dress: thrifted, Shoes: JCPenny, Choker: Claires, Necklace: Kohls

My second outfit also channels the inner rocker in me. By layering my leather jacket over a sweatshirt, I was able to reinvent one of my favorite pieces in my closet and stay warm on another windy day. By ditching my tights I was able to stay comfortable all day and still rock out.

Shirt: Walmart, Necklace: Rainbow, Jeans: American Eagle, Shoes: Payless

One of the best things I've learned about dressing for transitional periods involves just wearing basics. So often, we layer the basic pieces in our closet, because that's how we keep them interesting, but by stripping this outfit down to a pair of jeans and a long sleeve shirt, I was actually able to create an outfit that was like nothing I'd worn before. The statement necklace and fun shoes added the finishing touches to this transition outfit.

Dress: Forever21, Shoes: Thrifted, Necklace: Plato's Closet

For this outfit I incorporated pops of spring color by matching my shoes to my dress instead of wearing black like I normally would and by adding a statement necklace. Super easy, and it gives you the feeling of spring without having to freeze your buns off.

Jacket: Old Navy, Shirt: Thrifted, Necklace: Rainbow, Skirt: Thrifted, Socks: CottonOn, Boots: Macy's

For my last look I channeled my inner prep and layered a light jacket over a button up. By adding a sheer skirt and a statement necklace, I gave the look the spring feel it needed. My knee-highs gave me the warmth I needed without covering my whole leg like tights would have done, once again making this wearable when the weather is anywhere from low  forties to high sixties.
